Lorne is a special place — a well-loved, independent neighbourhood restaurant with a loyal local following. We’re known for excellent food, an exceptional wine list and warm, genuine hospitality. The restaurant is regularly recognised by guides including Michelin and Harden’s, and Neal Martin of Vinous has described Lorne as his favourite restaurant — a reflection of just how central wine is to everything we do.
Owned by former sommelier Katie Exton, Lorne is a small, close-knit team that cares deeply about doing things properly. We’re relaxed but professional, detail-led and generous with our time and knowledge. Wine isn’t an add-on here — it sits at the heart of the restaurant, shaping how we cook, serve and look after our guests.
We’re looking for someone to join the floor team who has a genuine interest in wine and hospitality and wants to keep learning. You might already have some wine knowledge — perhaps WSET Level 2 or 3 — or simply a strong curiosity and enthusiasm. Over time, there is real scope to become more involved in the wine list, cellar organisation and wine service, alongside day-to-day floor work.
This role would suit someone warm, confident and calm under pressure, who enjoys working as part of a small team and takes pride in looking after people properly. Previous experience is helpful but not essential — attitude, curiosity and a willingness to get stuck in matter most.
Why Us
Expert Training
We do regular menu training and tasting in-house, we have suppliers come in and do training with the staff, we visit suppliers and there is the possibility for Lorne to contribute towards external qualification courses such as WSET.
Be Involved & Responsible
Lorne is a small restaurant, so being part of the team means you can have a great sense of responsibility, learn and be exposed to many aspects of restaurants and hospitality and feel truly involved and be part of the growth and development of the business.
Flexible Hours
Hours can be flexible and we provide good staff food for every service you work and a staff drink when your shift is done.
Excellent Discounts
We also offer great discounts at both our restaurant and with a group of like-minded independent restaurants within London.
